Featured @ the Library

24/05/2017

Featured in the Library this Newsletter are two of our Senior girls, Kritika and Liaik. They both enjoy the variety of new opportunities in the Collaboration Centre, stating that there are “…a lot of things happening in the Library”. Kritika is glad of the daily newspapers as she can catch up on reading the news during lunchtimes, along with perusing the horoscopes and other entertainment updates. Laika took advantage of the viewing some of the interesting musical performances from the recent Eurovision competition celebrating Cultural Diversity which is being displayed, on quiet mode, as part of our Library focus on Intercultural Mindedness.

New Book Arrivals Term 2

Our school library has regular updates with the arrival of new literature, and students are very fortunate to be provided with the opportunity of accessing the latest teenage and young adult books written by world renowned and local authors. These ‘new arrivals’ are easily located at the display stands near the Collaboration Centre entrance and along the shelves opposite the circulation desk. We have a wide range of genre on offer such as adventure, sci-fi, real-life, action, dystopian, mystery and romance. They are perfect for Junior students participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge and there’s plenty of themes and topics for our Senior students too; students only have to ask our Library staff for help, as we are eager to show off all our fabulous new books!

Apart from new Fiction novels, the library has new Non-Fiction too, linking to all the different subjects taught at school. This time we are showcasing the new Science books featuring famous UK physicist and science TV show presenter, Brian Cox, plus some Junior STEM novels and interesting books about the contribution made by women to science. We also have fantastic new Arts books including biographies about American dance innovator: Alvin Ailey, painter Frida Kahlo and Beatrix Potter: author of the famous children’s ‘Peter Rabbit’ books, along with a superb picture book about photography.
