Year 12 End of Year Program 2018


The purpose of this information letter is to keep you aware of all the important events that are coming up and the expectations that are associated with these events.

Final Cl​earance

Thursday, 8 November (week 5, term 4)​

  • Normal school day – full school uniform is compulsory

  • All monies to be paid and all books, sports uniforms and equipment to be returned as well as all assessment to be completed.

  • Period 1 – 6 normal classes.

  • Period 7 & 8 clearance

  • All students will need to assemble in the barn (K05) for roll marking, classes will then move to do their clearance in the Senior Area.


​Valedictory Walk

Monday, 12 November

  • Full and correct school uniform is compulsory – writing and signing on the school uniform will not be permitted

  • Students must arrive at 8:45am.

  • Roll marking in House Groups by House Group teachers – uniform will be checked. Any student not in school uniform as per the diary, will not participate in this walk.

  • Students make their way to assemble in the senior area at 9:00am

  • Valedictory walk commences at 9:10am

  • Students will depart Mediterranean Drive at completion of walk at 9:30am

  • Please be advised police will be in attendance to ensure a safe exit from the school, reckless driving is not permitted and will be followed up by police

Formal at The G​old Coast Turf Club (Event Centre), Race Course Drive, Bundall 

Monday, 12 November

  • Tickets will be available from the cashiers by the end of term 3, price TBA

  • Only students with attendance at 90% or over will be invited to this event.

  • Students are to arrive at the Formal between 5:30pm and 6:45pm (according to the pre-arranged time).

  • Eventphotography (official formal photography) will be taking family and group photos from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Public Area. Students will then say goodbye to family and friends and move into the Conference Room at 7:30pm.

  • Additional photos will be taken during the function in the Public Area until 9:30pm.

  • The official Year 12 Formal photo will be taken at 9:30pm.

  • The official end to the formal will be 10:30pm – students will not be permitted to leave before this time.

  • Only students who currently attend Year 12 at Benowa and whose name is on the list at the door will be invited into the Conference Room for the official part of the evening.

BBQ Lunch at Cascade Gardens (across from the Crown Hotel), Broadbeach

Tuesday, 13 November

This is a compulsory event and is classed as a normal school day, students do NOT have to wear their school uniform for this event

  • Students are to arrive at Cascade Gardens at 1:00pm, roll mark will occur

  • BBQ and games provided by the formal committee.

  • 2:30pm dismissal.

  • Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from the venue.



Graduation Rehearsal at Home Of The Arts, HOTA (Former Arts Centre)

Wednesday, 14 November


  • Year 12 performers and crew meet Mrs Rimbaut on the stairs of the main entrance of HOTA, rolls marked at the main theatre. No food, gum or drinks are allowed inside the theatre


8:45am to 10:45am

  • Performers rehearse in the auditorium


  • Year 12s arrive at Evandale Park Lake (Northern side of Arts Centre) and have names marked off.


11:15am to 1:00pm

  • Graduation rehearsal in the main theatre for all Year 12 students who intend on being at the Graduation

  • Any student not in attendance for rehearsal does not cross the stage in the evening as their name is removed from the script.

  • Safety briefing, seating allocation, rehearsal of Graduation song and pronunciation of student names.

  • 2:00pm dismissal.

  • Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from the venue.


Graduation Night at HOTA

Wednesday, 14 November

6:30pm for a 7:00pm start

  • Dress requirements – Semi Formal​:

-       Males: long pants, tailored/collared shirts, enclosed shoes

-       Females: when choosing your outfit be conscious of the height of the stage and length of your outfit, the lights on the fabric (nothing sheer or clingy), the height of your shoes (stairs and carpet mix) and the baseline expectations of the school around hair and make up.

  • Year 12 graduating students are provided with a complimentary ticket.

  • There will be an initial limit of 2 tickets for purchase per student to ensure that every family has the opportunity to come to Graduation.

  • Tickets are $15 each and will be available for purchase from HOTA in term 4, dates will be advised closer to the event

  • Additional tickets may be available for purchase closer to the event.
