Year 12 End of Year Program

The purpose of this information is to keep you aware of all the important events that are coming up and the expectations that are associated with these events. The expectation at Benowa High is that Year 12 students will be in full attendance and correct uniform every day.

 

WEDNESDAY 8TH November – Final Clearance

  • All monies to be paid and all books, sports uniforms and equipment to be returned as well as all assessment to be completed. Please note this includes: All One to One Laptops, bags and chargers, these must be returned to the IT Department and all Textbooks and Library books must be returned to the bookroom and library.
  • Normal school day – full school uniform is compulsory
  • Period 1 – 4 normal classes.
  • Period 4, 5 & 6 clearance – Please note no writing on school shirts that are being worn.
  • All students to go to the barn (k05) for roll marking and are classes will move off for clearance in the Senior Area.

 

FRIDAY 10TH November – Valedictory Walk

  • Full school uniform is compulsory.
  • Students must arrive at 8:45am.
  • Roll marking in care classes by care teachers – where uniform is checked. Any student not in school uniform as per the diary, will not participate in this walk.
  • Students make their way to assemble in the senior area at 9:30am
  • Valedictory walk commences at 9:40am
  • Students will depart Mediterranean Drive at completion of walk at 10:05am
  • Please be advised police will be in attendance.

 

MONDAY 13TH November – Formal at The Gold Coast Turf Club Race course Drive.

  • Tickets are available from the cashier’s for $125 until the 12th October.
  • Students are to arrive at the Formal between 5:30pm and 6:45pm (according to the pre-arranged time) Drop off at the Function Centre.
  • Eventphotography (official formal photography) will be taking family and group photos from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Public Area. Students will then say goodbye to family and friends and move into the Conference Room at 7:30pm.
  • Additional photos will be taken during the function in the Public Area unitl 9:30pm.
  • The official Year 12 Formal photo will be taken at 9:30pm.
  • The official end to the formal will be 11:00pm – students will not be permitted to leave before this time.
  • Only students who currently attend Year 12 at Benowa and whose name is on the list at the door will be invited into the Conference Room for the official part of the evening.

 

TUESDAY 14TH November – BBQ Lunch at Cascade Gardens (across from the Crown Hotel)

  • Students are to arrive at Cascade Gardens at 1:00pm.
  • BBQ and games provided by the formal committee.
  • 2:30pm dismissal.
  • Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from the venue.
  • This is considered to be a normal school attendance day.

 

 

WEDNESDAY 15TH November – Graduation Rehearsal at the Arts Centre Gold Coast

8:30am

  • Year 12 performers and crew meet Miss Douglas on stairs of main entrance of the Arts Centre Gold Coast, rolls marked at ACGC main theatre. No food, gum or drinks are allowed inside the theatre

 

8:45am to 10:45am

  • Performers rehearse in the auditorium

 

11:00am

  • Year 12s arrive at Evandale Park Lake (Northern side of Arts Centre) and have names marked off.

 

11:15am to 1:00pm

  • Graduation rehearsal in the main theatre for all Year 12 students who intend on being at the Graduation
  • Safety briefing, seating allocation, rehearsal of Graduation song and pronunciation of student names.
  • 2:00pm dismissal.
  • Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from the venue.
  • Any student not in attendance for rehearsal does not cross the stage in the evening as their name is removed from the script.

 

WEDNESDAY 15TH November – Graduation Night at Arts Centre Gold Coast

6:30pm for a 7:00pm start

  • Dress requirements – Semi Formal
  • EG: Males: Long pants, tailored/collared shirts, enclosed shoes
  • Females: when choosing your outfit be conscious of the height of the stage and length of your outfit, the lights on the fabric (nothing sheer or clingy), the height of your shoes (stairs and carpet mix) and the baseline expectations of the school around hair and make-up.
  • Year 12 graduating students are provided with a complimentary ticket.
  • There will be an initial limit of 2 tickets for purchase per student to ensure that every family has the opportunity to come to Graduation.
  • Tickets are $15 each and will be available for purchase from the Gold Coast Arts Centre.
  • After all families have had the opportunity to purchase their 2 tickets, additional tickets may be available for purchase closer to the event.
