1-to-1 Laptop Program

Overview

In 2012, Benowa SHS begun the Federally Government funded 1-to-1 take home laptop program, where students paid an annual fee to have 24 hour access to a DETE owned laptop.

In 2015, funding for this Government program was cut, causing the ending and phasing out of the 1-to-1 laptop program.

2016
Only Year 11 and 12 students can access this scheme (with an annual fee of $190).
Years 7-12 can use BYOD laptops.

2017
Year 12 only can access this scheme (with an annual fee of $190).
Years 7-12 can use BYOD laptops.

2018
Years 7-12 will only use BYOD laptops.
1-to-1 will be completely phased out and no longer exist.

Please note that the annual participation fee does not purchase the 1-to-1 laptop. These have been provided courtesy of funding made available by the Federal government's national secondary school computer fund and will remain the property of Education Queensland.

The participation fee does enable the school to run the "take home" program by funding additional expenses beyond the purchase of the laptop.

The success of this program relies on maximum participation, otherwise the laptops would be available for use at school only.

Year 12 students not participating in the 1-to-1 laptop program will still have access to Day-Use Laptop scheme. Students apply to be part of this scheme via a visit to the IT Department to collect a permission form, which is signed by the parent/guardian and returned to the school. There are a limited number of day-use devices available, so there is no guarantee a student will have access to one of these every time they visit to borrow.

If you have any queries regarding this program please feel free to contact the school or email 1to1laptops@benowashs.eq.edu.au.
