Permanent HOD Position-Senior Schooling

The successful applicant will be focused on working with other leaders and curriculum teams through the provision of high level services in the school's Senior Secondary certification processes; be strategic and innovative in their delivery and implementation of roles and responsibilities by: 
  • ​Leading the development and implementation of QCS and Non-QCS training programs

  • Developing action plans to meet the needs of Senior Secondary learners

  • Supervising teacher's pedagogical practice (ASOT Framework)

  • Tracking QCE attainment and provide high level data analysis of student achievement

  • Managing the SDCS database and liaison with QCAA in regard to the SDCS database

  • Coordinating the VET requirements and audit compliance for curriculum RTO's


This position requires a highly efficient person with excellent interpersonal skills and a student centered teaching approach. In order to successfully undertake this position, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the ability to perform independently and display initiative in the application of established work practices and procedures.

​About the role: Schools Officer (Grounds/Facilities/Bus Driver)

An exciting opportunity exists for the appointment of a temporary part-time Schools Officer

(Grounds/Facilities/Bus Driver). As a key member of Benowa State High Schools support staff team, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school. This position, for the most part, will require you to operate the school bus as needed. You will also be required to perform a range of duties to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard when you are not operating the school bus.


Your role: Schools Officer (Grounds/Facilities/Bus Driver)

As the Schools Officer (Grounds/Facilities/Bus Driver) you will have the responsibility for leading the following activities and undertaking the following tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Driving the School Bus (HIGER H8200, 35 SEAT RYDER) for school excursions as required

  • Responsible for ensuring the School Bus is serviced and meticulously maintained and presented in an immaculate condition at all times

  • Maintaining scrupulous records concerning the operation of the bus

  • The ability to work flexible working hours to meet the needs of the school

  • Undertake grounds improvement and enhancement duties

  • Monitor and maintain school facilities

  • Preparation of classrooms for regular school activities

  • Other duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the Principal or nominated delegate.


The ideal applicant will be someone who:

  • Is currently holding an unblemished, valid MR (medium rigid) Licence as well as providing evidence of a current traffic history record. Apply online at:

  • Has proven experience in driving passenger vehicles covered by a MR Licence and be able to provide a minimum of two references of past contractors/employers

  • Demonstrates that there is no reason why they would not be able to be listed on the schools motor vehicle insurance policy

  • Demonstrates a skillset that enables the role to undertake required procedures without intensive supervision

  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work positively with all members of the school community, both individually and as a member of a team

  • Has proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service

  • Demonstrates knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Departmental administrative policies, practices and procedures used in schools.
