Year 12 END OF YEAR PROGRAM 2019

The purpose of this information letter is to keep you aware of all the important events that are coming up and the expectations that are associated with these events.

SPORT - term 3 and term 4

Year 12 students are not expected to attend during sport on Wednesday during term 3 and 4. They are expected to attend until 1.05 pm each Wednesday and are then dismissed from school.

FORMAL – Wednesday, 9 October – Gold Coast Event Centre, Race Course Drive, Bundall

  • Only students with attendance at 90% or over AND who have paid full school fees will be invited to this event.
  • Only students who currently attend Year 12 at Benowa and whose names are on the list will be invited into the Conference Room for the official part of the evening
  • Ticket cost is $135, this includes a 2 course meal and soft drinks, photographer, DJ and security - students who meet the above requirements will be invoiced for the ticket. Tickets need to be paid by Wednesday, 28  August.
  • Students are to arrive at the Formal between 5:30pm and 6:45pm (according to the pre-arranged time) - a schedule will be organised during term 3.
  • Event Photography will be taking family and group photos from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Public Area. Students will then say goodbye to family and friends and move into the Conference Room at 7:30pm. Additional photos will be taken during the function in the Public Area until 9:30pm.The official Year 12 Formal photo will be taken at 9:30pm.
  • The official end to the formal will be at 10:30pm - students will not be permitted to leave before this time.
     

BBQ Lunch – Thursday, 10 October – BBQ lunch at Cascade Gardens (across from the Crown Hotel), Broadbeach

  • This is a compulsory event and is classed as a normal school day, students do NOT have to wear their school uniform for this event
  • Students are to arrive at Cascade Gardens at 1:00pm, roll mark will occur
  • BBQ provided by the formal committee.
  • 2:30pm dismissal.
  • Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from the venue.

CLEARANCE AND VALEDICTORY – Tuesday, 12 November

  • Full and correct school uniform is compulsory - writing and signing on the school uniform will not be permitted. Any student not in school uniform as per the diary, will NOT participate in the valedictory walk 
  • All students to attend House Group for roll marking
  • Period 1 clearance : All monies to be paid and all books, sports uniforms and equipment to be returned as well as all assessment to be completed
  • Period 2 valedictory walk: students will assemble in K3 at the start of period 2, valedictory walk will commence at 10.20. Students will depart Mediterranean Drive at the completion of the walk at 10.40. Please be advised police will be in attendance to ensure a safe exit from the school, reckless driving is not permitted and will be followed up by police

GRADUATION REHEARSAL – Wednesday, 13 November – Home of the Arts, HOTA – 8.30am

  • Year 12 performers and crew meet Mrs Rimbaut on the stairs of the main entrance of HOTA, rolls marked at the main theatre. No food, gum or drinks are allowed inside the theatre

 8:45am to 10:45am

  • Performers rehearse in the auditorium

11:00am

  • Year 12s arrive at the entrance of HOTA and have names marked off. 

 11.15am to 1.00pm

  • Graduation rehearsal in the main theatre for all Year 12 students who intend on being at the Graduation
  • Any student not in attendance for rehearsal does not cross the stage in the evening as their name is removed from the script (18 students excepted)
  • Safety briefing, seating allocation, rehearsal of Graduation song and pronunciation of student names.
  • 2:00pm dismissal.
  • Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from the venue.

GRADUATION NIGHT – Wednesday, 13 November - HOTA

6.30pm for a 7.00pm start

  • Dress requirements -Semi Formal

Males: long pants, tailored/collared shirts, enclosed shoes

Females: when choosing your outfit be conscious of the height of the stage and length of your outfit, the lights on the fabric (nothing sheer or clingy), the height of your shoes (stairs and carpet mix) and the baseline expectations of the school around hair and make up.

  • Year 12 graduating students are provided with a complimentary ticket.

  •  There will be an initial limit of 2 tickets for purchase per student to ensure that every family has the opportunity to come to Graduation.

  •  Tickets are $20 each (new pricing) and will be available for purchase from HOTA in term 4 - more information will be sent via SMS

  • Additional tickets may be available for purchase closer to the event.
