Congratulations on your efforts to keep continuity of learning for your student(s) at home with Week 2 now completed. We understand the many challenges you have faced and in spite of this we have seen some fabulous learning work from your students across the school – well done Mums, Dads and Caregivers! The creative work has been just sensational including when necessary, the creative problem solving.
Students have been checking in well with teachers though we still have some students from whom we have heard very little. Our 2 Deans, Mrs Price and Mrs McAlpine have been following up with students to check on wellbeing and when necessary to help solve some learning issues. Just a reminder that the student response back to us in the morning is marking the roll for us and the text home in regard to absence follows when we have not received anything back.
There is much talk in the community about the return to school with a decision being made on May 15. We currently have 30 staff working from home and we look forward to the transition of those staff back to school to take their place in face-to-face teaching when that begins again.
Facilities work across our site has been extensive with a completely new Nth/Sth covered walkway in the school, new seating, hundreds of metres of turf and news today of a huge solar system that will cover the roof of the hall and contribute to reducing our environmental ‘footprint’. We are ‘green’ and ready to go when students return.
This weekend is a good test of everyone’s resolve and the next 14 days is a clear period leading into that May 15 decision. I have no further information so I cannot speculate on the decision. We are as a school however looking at the return to classes and when the return is announced, I will send home detail to you titled ‘Return to School’.
Please take care - the threat of COVID-19 still remains.
