Dear Parents / Caregivers
I hope you are taking the extra care to ensure your safety and wellbeing during this time. I understand that for many this snap lockdown has brought about additional stresses and I encourage you to reach out to the range of wellbeing supports I had identified in yesterday's communication.
Today, all teachers have emailed, through Compass, where learning at home materials can be found for the remainder of the week. A copy of timetables have been sent to parents and students. It is expected that students do their best to engage in learning at this time to have some consistency in their day. Should students be struggling to engage in learning at home please have them contact their teachers in the first instance to seek assistance. If a student is not engaging in the expected learning their teacher will refer this matter to one of our Deans of Students who will be in contact with you to offer support.
Unlike 2020, this year I am working with all teachers to include a face-to-face lesson each week via Microsoft Teams. This lesson is not likely to look like a normal lesson, but instead is designed for students to ask questions on the set work and also act as a way for students to engage with their peers. Please ensure your student checks their emails daily for the invitations to participate in these face-to-face lessons. Should your student not have access to a device to support learning from home please email ITSupport@benowashs.eq.edu.au.
With the use of new platforms to support learning at home I would like to remind everyone about conduct whilst working online. Our student Digital Citizen Student Code of Conduct (PDF, 1.3Mb ) remains in place and outlines school expectations in alignment with our values of respect, integrity, diligence and compassion. I sincerely hope that the change to learning at home continues to see all students continuously demonstrate these values as I have seen so often across the year to date.
Lastly, should your student be experiencing any technical difficulties with learning at home please email ITSupport@benowashs.eq.edu.au
