Hello everyone and welcome back to Term 4. Two things to update you on in this email with the first being the Council of International Schools accreditation process which has featured in staff work throughout 2020.
Next week will be working with two CIS school evaluators (online) to complete a preliminary evaluation of our school against a number of international education standards. The purpose of this work is to support our school’s 5 year school improvement strategy. There will be a strong focus on teaching and learning in next week’s meetings with many online opportunities for the evaluators to view our school and our practices. I look forward to providing a copy of the evaluation report to you via our school website.
The second update is on the 2020 School Awards Night. This event cannot proceed as it has in the past due to COVID-19 venue restrictions and also that with external exams for Year 12, the presentation to our school dux (ATAR and IB) cannot occur until 2021. Consideration is being given to hosting two nights of House Awards, likely in Week 4 of Term 1 in 2021 at the Gold Coast Turf Club venue. On each of these evenings there will be House Ceremonies in which we present the 2020 Academic Awards, 2020 Special Awards (including DUX) for student recipients in that House and we will also have all of our 2021 Year 12s present at their House Ceremony for their investiture. The 2020 Year 12 prize winners would return for this ceremony next year. As part of this change we intend to publish the names of all special award winners prior to the completion of the 2020 school year with just the DUX to be announced in 2021. More details soon.
Please take care,
