To the Year 11 and 12 students (and families/caregivers) of 2021,
We hope you are well and are finishing the 2020 academic year strongly! As the year draws to a close, we wanted to give you a heads up of what's to come for 2021.
A few weeks back, we addressed the current year 10 (future year 11) students to talk through the assessments that are coming up in year 11 of 2021. We unpacked the assessment calendar and spoke about the expectations related to assessments. Our current year 11 (future year 12) students are already well aware of all the expectations in regards to assessments but it can never hurt to re-address these again.
I have attached for you the assessment calendar for 2021 along with the overviews per year level, I have also added Benowa SHS's Assessment Policy for your perusal.
All of the documents have also been uploaded onto our website under the Senior Assessment Hub tab.
The most important message we would like to extend to you is that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, UNLESS IT IS A MEDICAL REASON OR MISADVENTURE, are you able to miss any assessment due dates/exams. Please do not book any holidays during school terms, a holiday is not a valid excuse to miss assessments. Missed assessment will result in a 0% score. Dates simply cannot be altered or changed as it compromises the integrity of the assessment piece.
If other issues such as illness, misadventure or extenuating circumstances have prevented you from sitting an exam or handing in an assignment, you will need to apply for AARA (Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments) through the Guidance Office. The Guidance Officers are the only people that can grant extensions through an AARA application and they are always happy to assist wherever they can.
As a Year 11 or 12 student, you will be working with your House Deputy and you will be monitored closely in terms of attendance and academic progress. If you have any concerns or questions, please see your relevant House Deputy:
Bandler and Wright House – Mr Glenn Chippendale
Florey and Murdoch House – Mrs Sarah Douglas
Laver and Hinkler House – Mr Brendon Wolski
Hollows and Wake House – Mrs Lieve Rimbaut
Wishing you a well-deserved holiday!
Kind regards,
Mark Rickard
Executive Principal
