This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of administrative positions who perform a range of tasks using advanced practical skills and operational knowledge in a defined context. Individuals in these roles operate independently and without supervision making business decisions.
Business is diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for a variety of business organisations.
Students will be taught at school by a Prestige Service Trainer under the supervision of a Benowa SHS teacher.
Prestige Service Training (RTO: 31981) deliver the Diploma in Business as a senior subject where students learn what it is like to work in the Business industry.
A laptop to complete all assessments and demonstrate competency.
Students go through an application process to be able to enrol in this course.
Applications are reviewed by both Benowa State High School and Prestige Service Training. Applications forms can be obtained on the night of the Subject Expo.
Duration and Location
This course is two years long. The course is delivered at Benowa SHS as part of the school timetable.
There is a fee of approximately $2000 associated with course directly payable to Prestige Services Training. Payment plans can be organised on enrolment.
Students will complete 8 units of competency, all of which are electives.

Benowa SHS guarantees that the student will be provided with every opportunity to complete the qualification. We do not guarantee employment upon completion of this qualification.
Students who are deemed competent in all twelve units of competency will be awarded a qualification and a record of results. If students obtain the qualification, they will gain eight points towards their QCE. Students who achieve at least one unit of competency (but not the full qualification) will receive a statement of attainment.
A range of delivery modes will be used during the teaching and learning of this qualification. These include:
- Face-to-face instruction
- Work-based learning
- Guided learning
- Online training
Assessment is competency based and completed in a simulated Business environment. Assessment techniques include: observations, folios of work, written and practical tasks, questioning and projects.
Students do not complete work placement for this unit of competency.
The qualification has been developed while consulting with industry to ensure that students are ready for the workplace.
This qualification may articulate into:
- A Bachelor of Business degree
- Entry to work in the Business World for example as a small Business owner, project manager or marketing manager.
