Qualification Description
The Certificate III in Dance is a nationally accredited course designed for students who are passionate about dance and are considering a future in the Performing arts, Performing arts industry or related fields. This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as entry level dancers in the live performance industry. Individuals are expected to demonstrate application of foundational skills and knowledge for routine activities expected for dance and live performance contexts. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include ensemble dancer. Assistant Dance Teacher, Ensemble Dancer, Indigenous Ensemble Dancer.
Entry Requirements
- Students applying must have studied a Junior Dance, Drama, Musical, Creative Arts (2 semesters).
- Audition presenting dance style from AQF level 2 or above standard.
- Demonstrate evidence of language, literacy and numeracy skills at the requisite ACSF level.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training and assessment.
- Participate in workplace tasks to employer expectations.
- Be able to work in an industry environment and handle industry standard equipment.
- Comply with the RTO code of conduct requirements, directions on work, and health and safety matters.
Duration and Location
This course is three years long. The course is delivered at Benowa SHS as part of the school timetable.
Fees
The fee for this course is $200.00 per year (performance hoodie, industry professional workshops).

RTO Obligation
Benowa SHS guarantees that the student will be provided with every opportunity to complete the qualification. We do not guarantee employment upon completion of this qualification.
Students who are deemed competent in all thirteen units of competency will be awarded a qualification and a record of results. If students obtain the qualification, they will gain eight points towards their QCE. Students who achieve at least one unit of competency (but not the full qualification) will receive a statement of attainment.

Assessment
Assessment is competency based and completed in a simulated Photography environment. Assessment techniques include: observations, folios of work, written and practical tasks, questioning and projects.
Work Placement
Students do not complete work placement for this unit of competency.
The qualification has been developed while consulting with industry to ensure that students are ready for the workplace.
