2024
Australian Education Awards : Best Professional Learning Program
In August our Accessible Assessment Team won the Best Professional Learning Program Award at the Australian Education Awards in Sydney! Our dedicated staff and school leaders were recognised for embracing the principles of Accessible Assessment and Pedagogy, removing barriers to learning, and enabling our students to thrive. Congratulations to again Matt Pickersgill and the team of Ron Eyre, Dana Tucker, Schinaed Johnston, Shane Riley, and Bettianne Stuart.
Gold Coast State Secondary Education Excellence Awards
Congratulations to our Melody, being awarded the Educational Support Person of the Year Award! Melody's hard work and innovative contributions have significantly enhanced our school communication and sense of community. She played a key role in the rebranding of our
school, manages large events, and empowers students through initiatives like the Yearbook Committee. Her efforts in streamlining processes and amplifying our school's successes on social media have been exceptional. We are thrilled to celebrate her achievement.
2023
Gold Coast State Secondary Education Excellence Awards
Winners of the Excellence in Innovation Award, sponsored by Southern Cross University, for Our Accessible Assessment and Pedagogy Project.
Nominees in this category displayed engagement in the design and implementation of learning innovations, demonstrated impact on students, teachers and communities and strong leadership at all levels to support innovation.
The judging panel thought that it was a high impact project that is research-led, clearly having tangible impacts and has a strong partnership with QUT with strong outcomes. Congratulations to Mr Matt Pickersgill and the team including: Ron Eyre, Dana Tucker, Shane Riley, and Bettianne Stuart.

2022
Our 2022 results reflect how highly effective Benowa State High School teachers and support staff worked across a dual system: the new Queensland Certificate of Education and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. We are excited about the success of both programs. Many students received outstanding ATAR scores and to have a high number students in the IB reach a score of high 30s and one student a 42 (out of a maximum of 45) is quite exceptional internationally.
