Benowa State High School’s vision ‘Many Pathways~No Limits’ espouses the practice of our teachers on a daily basis in the classroom. While pathways are often thought of in the senior secondary years, pathways are relevant for every learner, irrespective of year level.

Critical to a successful pathway is the absolute need for every learner to be literate and numerate. Literacy and numeracy remain the critical bases for any educated person. While the school has established intervention programs to support positive literacy and numeracy achievement for ALL students we remain vigilant in ensuring that the literacy and numeracy skills of every student continue to progress.

In 2020, an identified area for school improvement is to better support parents to be involved in their child’s education, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy. To achieve our goal we will be providing information via newsletters, and resources via our website, so that you are familiar with our reading, writing and numeracy strategies. The intention is to reduce any barriers in the language of literacy and numeracy between home and school.
